![]() ![]() And I'm sure I can find some satisfactory work-around that will solve my problem. I will be running lots of experiments to try to determine the answers myself. (4) Or is iTunesDB smart enough to increment/modify the filenames to avoid duplicates? (3) Or does the MM plug-in interact with iTunesDB in such a way that iTunesDB itself can make sure to put duplicate filenames into different folders. To greatly reduce the likelihood of ever sending duplicate filenames to iPod? (2) Or, do I need to provide for this by using a mask like folders? If so, does it automatically increment/modify the new filename in some way, to prevent possible duplicate filenames on the iPod? (I presume that the iPod OS does not like having duplicate filenames in the same folder, which could eventually happen by chance.) (1) When I'm syncing a new file to iPod, does MM check to make sure that its filename does not already exist in one of the iPod's F00, F01. So I'm wondering how much I need to worry about sending duplicate filenames to the iPod. In fact, there are quite a few EXACT duplicate titles (different versions of the same song). ![]() Unfortunately, among my thousands of mp3s there are numerous examples of Titles that begin with the same 27 char. I want to use the field as my filename, as this will work well with the folder system already described above. Because the iTunesDB will allow only 31 char (27 char + extension) in the filenames (or the songs won't play), I must use the 31-char filename truncation option in MM. ![]() I can now use the playlist nodes in MM to see all my original folders on the iPod, so I can readily tell which folders have been synced, and which ones have not. I do this by creating a new playlist named after each folder, pulling the songs from the folder into the playlist, and then syncing the folder to the iPod. I want to use MM to manually (selectively) sync various folders of mp3 files from my PC to my 80GB iPod. So I am asking my question here in a slightly more-detailed form. And I think the full answer will require a knowledge of the script/plug-in that MM uses to sync files to the iPod. I have sought an answer in the "Need Help?" forum, and got a little bit of help but I need more. ![]()
